WEST HAM GIVE ‘FRESH CONSIDERATION’ TO MOYES SACKING WITH FUTURE ‘DEPENDING’ ON EUROPEAN FINAL

West Ham manager David Moyes could lose his job if the Hammers lose their Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina, according to a report.

Moyes is enjoying his second stint at the London Stadium after an underwhelming spell between November 2017 and May 2018.

Having only taken charge of 31 games in that period, the Scottish manager returned to the capital and has been massively successful.

The Hammers reached the Europa League semi-final last season after finishing sixth in the Premier League and are currently preparing for their first European final in 47 years.

Moyes’ side face Italian side Fiorentina in Prague next Wednesday after beating AZ Alkmaar home and away in the semi-final.

After leading West Ham to the Conference League final, Moyes’ job seemed pretty safe, but it appears it is once again in jeopardy following a disappointing domestic campaign.

The Irons finished 14th in the Premier League and were knocked out in the early rounds of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, which has created some unrest in east London.

Moyes was reportedly close to losing his job on a number of occasions this season, but he managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat every time he seemed to be one loss away from the sack.

He will need to provide some of that Scottish magic one more time before 2022/23 draws to a close, with his job reportedly on the line in the Conference League final against Fiorentina.

According to The Guardian, Moyes ‘could be sacked’ if West Ham fail to lift the European trophy, with the club’s hierarchy ‘giving fresh consideration to parting company’ with the former Manchester United boss.

After the Premier League season ended, confidence in the Scot has ‘waned’ and his future ‘could depend’ on the result against Fiorentina.

West Ham are now ‘looking at potential replacements’ with it seen as ‘impossible’ to make a change if they win the final.

The report does claim that Moyes ‘has not lost the dressing room’ and that he ‘has credit in the bank’, though there is added disappointment in the performances of his newest signings and his ‘cautious’ style of play.

One player to fail to live up to the price tag is Gianluca Scamacca, who was signed from Sassuolo for £35million last summer.

Lucas Paqueta is another who has struggled at the London Stadium. Saying that, he has shown big signs of improvement towards the end of the season and if he performs at his best against Fiorentina, West Ham will be hard to beat.

The report adds that Hammers captain Declan Rice is expected to leave in the summer.

Arsenal are the ‘favourites’ despite interest from Bayern Munich. It is claimed Rice is ‘reluctant’ to leave England.
